For pumping flow-rates significantly above 2L/s, Thermofluidics estimates that a limited number of moving parts and micro-processor control can become cost-effective, especially when remote monitoring and telemetry over the internet is required.
We are therefore developing a Large Volume Pumping Engine in which the liquid power-piston is forced up and down by alternate connection to a separate evaporator/boiler or a separate condenser, via electronically operated solenoid valves.
Thermofluidics’ “Valved” pumping engine is being developed for future flow rates of around 40L/s at pumped heads of around 5m, though we are currently developing a 1/10th scale prototype. This work is taking place in collaboration with the U.K. Environment Agency.
